The Media & The Republicans “Rebranding” Effort
I nearly laughed when I read about the Republicans re-branding effort. I thought to my self: Re-branding will not work because changing the brand is all fluff and cynicism, you need to change your positions to really attract new believers. Digging a little deeper, I was wrong. It turns out that they are actually having a bunch of town hall policy debates. Then I thought to myself: what does it actually take in this country for a party to rethink what they want to represent? I do know that holding a series of conferences discussing new policy isn’t enough. On the other hand, I do think it’s a step in the right direction. Despite what I think though, the media are portraying this as a mere re-branding effort. I think they have prejudged the situation, but I won’t be complaining too loudly.
